Nakheel planning to extend Dragon Mart and construct another two Retail Centres as well

As part of Nakheel's plans unveiled in 2008 to commence a development of at least a total of 13 million square feet of new retail space across five-separate mega projects in Dubai, which is under its Retail Shopping Malls division, it will begin its extension plan for the Dragon Mart, a largest trading centre exclusively for Chinese products, that was opened in 2004.
Based on the report, the company awarded the contract for its extension plan to Dar Al Handasah, the World's Top International Engineering Design and Supervision Consultants. It will start its construction and extension works within the first half of next year 2012. In the first place, a month ago, it was primarily reported that Nakheel has had a plan to make an extension for Ibn Batutta Mall as well.
In addition, the company will extend at the same time its retail portfolio both in Jumeirah Park and Discovery Gardens, which will be designed and supervised by Consulting Architects and Engineers, Arif & Bintoak.
The aforementioned two community retail centres will be concurrently constructed in the first half of 2012. In Jumeirah Park, there will be a total of 50,000 square feet of retail area; while in its Discovery Gardens development, the retail centre will offer approximately 140,000 square feet of retail space.
Based on the report, the company awarded the contract for its extension plan to Dar Al Handasah, the World's Top International Engineering Design and Supervision Consultants.
